Statement:
There are three primary strands within my practice: experimental sculptures, expressionist ceramics and modern frescos. Each strand influences and encourages the next, therefore they subconsciously evolve together.
I take inspiration from nature and weathered man-made objects that I find. Focusing on the minor details. I constantly gather images on adventures around the countryside, photographing the intense colours and compositions of nature and the many old, dilapidated farmsteads of Leitrim and Roscommon. Images like these are the research that informs my work. The craft skills I have learned help me to expose the materials I work with to reveal their unique properties and beauty. This includes form, texture and colour vibrancy. I am focusing on subjects that greatly influence me such as irish history, culture and folklore.
